Day 9 and Steffen arrived at the finish of the 2015 Trans Afrika in Eden on the Bay in Blouberg at 00H12. Completing the race in 8 days 19 hours 28 minutes. Smashing the record.
Steffen arrived in Calitzdorp at 00h01 the previous night and after being assisted by the Police to find accommodation he left at 04h00 to complete the last 452 kms of the race. The head wind pounded him most of the way but he managed to pick up a tail wind as he passed Montague. Spinning up Bain’s Pass and into Wellington he arrived with that smile at Eden on the Bay.
Steffen was greeted and presented his race trophy and taken off for a meal and a sleep.
Colin and Andrew were snuggled up in Aberdeen at the Pagel House Guest House in Aberdeen. This guesthouse has been brilliant in their treatment of the riders. Steffen arrived late and they cooked for him way after the kitchen closed and sent him on his way at 05h00 before the sparrows had started singing. Tonight they have the duo and we understand the hospitality has been exceptional. Have a look at their website www.pagelhouse.co.za
The boys will leave early to get through Willowmore and to arrive in Prince Albert for some of the Dennehof hospitality. They should finish in Cape Town on Thursday we suspect.
Kenny is holed up in Burgerdorp. He is still having a few problems with his bike but is soldiering on. Kenny will leave early tomorrow heading for Aberdeen tomorrow.
Day 9 Steffen wins in 8 days,19 hours and 28 mins
