Day 8 and Steffen is closer to Cape Town than he was yesterday! Steffen arrived at 18h30 in Graaff Reinet and headed for Aberdeen arriving at approximately 21h30 last night. Steffen did not leave as early as he wanted to, most likely due to his host at the Pagel Guest House feeding him. Once on the road at 05h00 he made short work to Willomore where we caught up with him. Steffen restocked on some food and took the dirt road option to Prince Albert. He arrived in PA at 17H30 ate and cycled straight up the Swartburg Pass toward Calitzdorp. Steffen is setting himself up for a 452 km ride into Cape Town tomorrow to finish the 2015 Trans Afrika.
Kenny left Ficksburg early with intentions of making Aliwal North as his target for the day. As a result of yesterdays roof incident Kenny has been nursing his bike along all day and has only made Wepner as a result of the disk and wheel rubbing. Kenny is trying to sort the problem out tonight and will seek help in Aliwal North tomorrow if he is unable to fix the problem He will then head for Middleburg to try and make up some time.
The boys! Colin and Andrew are safely in at Steynsburg having ridden from Wepner today. The ride today was uneventful although the target was Middleburg. Working out their possible finish times and stops I suspect that they will finish on Thursday afternoon in Cape Town, that’s if Colin can stop falling asleep after he has breakfast in the morning according to Andrew.
There’s not a lot one can write at the moment without repeating things, let the photos do the talking.
